EMPATHY FOR SHE, NOT THEE

Blog 74: Empathy for SHE, not Thee

(Heading to the late breakfast campfire at Rock of Liberty Ranch, the Keepers rouse themselves from the nearly finished straw bale bunkhouse after a long night's travel.)

Timeus:  (Greeting the weary travellers) Well, hey ho and up they rises.

Ann:  I may be up, but I'd like to keep my breakfast down; I'm starving! (Link assists the pregnant Ann with a cushion for comfortable seating near the fire.) Thank you, dear. (kissing him on the cheek)

Lady Liberty:  Ann, I've prepared some wholesome oatmeal and fruit for you with soft boiled eggs on the side to avoid the gre...

Link:  Ah! Do not utter the word, please.

Ann:  (laughing) I'm ok. No morning sickness for several days.

Lady Liberty:  Very good.  You can start with some orange juice, now that Tu's tea is not needed.

Olam:  Were the bunks comfortable?

Raina:  Yes, when they weren't taking flight and careening through nightmare alley.

Curtis:  I was never over 75 at ANY point during our flight...trip. Road trip.  Right, Link?

Link:  That's true, you weren't. It just felt like it to the queasier passengers.

Raina:  Well, you might have shown more empathy toward Ann.

Timeus:  No doubt I do not possess the "richness of her experiences", as the would-be Supreme nominee has reflected,  but if empathy were your better guide, Mother should have driven, in which case we'd be looking for you some time toward the end of next week.  If you ever arrived at all.

Lady Liberty:  You beg my pardon?

Olam:  Yes, so much for the qualifications of good drivers. But speaking of bypassing the American dream altogether in favor of the highwayman's nightmare, our new young President, aka The reMaker, shares the pain for she, not thee, Timeus.

Nor should Curtis and Link be deceived by any black-like-me empathy, for you, in this court case, are like Clarence Thomas, though the very embodiment of rich experience and tested by obstacles and barriers. But we all know how much empathy he has received from the presumed followers of identity politics.

Link:  The not-so-pale yang to Sarah Palin.

Tu:  Ah hah! (laughing)

Curtis:  Or La Raza's reject, Miguel Estrada.

Raina:  Such empathy does sound more like myopic injustice.

Lady Liberty:  Of, by and for Narcissus.

Olam:  Then let the qualifications for our meritocracy of character be applied blindly to all so that these recipients of liberty for all may truly see.

Raina:  Not filter out responsibility by identity.

Olam:  Not foist on U.S. the same old strong man rule by new method actors.

Timeus:  Give me their better, Ronald Reagan, and his betters, our Founders. The old, discredited "white males" whose reasoning found its universal way to the rule of law and codified it, not only for themselves, but for the ancestors and descendents of these mere stand-ins. Codified against the bigotry that, by another name, they would institutionalize for their temporary gain.

Lady Liberty:  The power trip through history's lessons.

When the independents and the libertarians--when the brothers, sons and daughters of the American Revolution and the wandering "moderates" of moral relativism voted for "change" in the last election, was this hostile takeover by proxy politics what they had in mind?

Olam:  Good question. Is such unchecked feeling too fleet for the long haul, my Lady?
